During the last 10 years, Alleen Cooper, 98, has been sending hand-written letters to the service men and women overseas.

“All of the time I think of these people and their families at home,” Cooper told a news station.

It all started for her when her son was serving in the military in Vietnam. She would write him letters and to those he was serving with.

She doesn’t plan on stopping and will continue sending letters for as long as she can.

Sometimes those who get her letters will respond back by sending a letter of their own or a flag from their base.
